Practising gratitude on a daily basis is a great for our minds. Gratitude allows us to intentionally shift our focus onto the positive aspects of our lives, which helps us to raise our positive energy and make us feel good.

5 Simple and Effective Ways You Can Practise Gratitude

1. GRATITUDE JOURNAL

Writing a few sentences in a gratitude journal each day, is a great way to intentionally shift your thoughts on the good things that have happened to you. It’s a great way to push yourself to think about all the good things you are grateful for that day. It can be anything from the food you ate, the home you live in, family and friends, to name a few.

2. PRACTISE GRATITUDE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

Taking a few minutes every morning to mindfully practice gratitude is a great way to start the day. You can do this whilst you are getting ready, brushing your teeth or whilst you are having breakfast. Find things you are grateful for by simply looking around you. An example is, I am grateful for the warm drink and for the food on my table. Thank you for the beautiful sunrise, I am grateful for this experience. I am grateful for my warm home. I am grateful for my health and I am grateful for the wonderful birds I can hear etc.

3. HAVE MORE POSITIVE CONVERSATIONS

How many times have you found yourself complaining or discussing negative topics which, has resulted in leaving you feeling drained and unhappy? It’s good to talk about things that are bothering you and we believe a great way to balance this out is by talking about the things you are grateful for and the good things that have happened to you. Positive conversations make you feel good and are a great way to shift your energy negative energy into positive energy.

A great way to encourage positive conversations is to talk about the highlights in your day/week. A few minutes in your day or week is all it takes. Turn it into a quick-fire question game by asking “tell me two things that made you feel good and give the highlight of your week”. We believe this is a fun and enjoyable way to practise gratitude and raise your positive vibes.

4. SAYING THANK YOU

The power of saying thank you is quite often underrated. A great way to mindfully practice gratitude is by simply saying thank you. An example is, saying thank you for helping me, thank you for holding the door open, thank you for making me dinner, thank you for supporting me, thank you for being a great friend. This is a mindful way to acknowledge gratitude in the moment.

5. PRACTICE APPRECIATION

Appreciation is a great way to practise gratitude, as it acknowledges the value of someone or something. It’s a simple gesture of thanks and a great way for you to express how grateful you are for them. by practising this method of gratitude will make the receiver feel much appreciated. Gratitude of appreciation can be expressed in multiply ways from treating someone to lunch, a thank you card, buying a drink, making dinner etc. It could be a work colleague, family, friend or even someone who has just gone out of their way to help you. It’s always nice to give back and a great way to express how grateful you are for their help.
